How is the Pulse 2 different from Law Enforcement TASER energy weapons?
At the end of the day, all TASER energy weapons are designed to induce neuromuscular incapacitation (NMI), but law enforcement and civilian weapons have a few differences. When a member of law enforcement deploys a TASER energy weapon, it is intended to incapacitate a threat momentarily to give the officer a chance to secure the threat. For that reason,the standard cycle of law enforcement TASER energy weapons is 5 seconds of electric current. For a civilian, the goal of deploying a TASER energy weapon is often to fend off an attacker long enough to get to safety. For that reason, the Pulse 2 is more compact, discreet, and has a 30-second cycle of electric current.
Why would I buy a Pulse 2 when I already have a gun?
Pulse 2 is not classified as a firearm, and is therefore subject to fewer restrictions. This provides you with the ability to protect yourself and your loved ones, when a firearm may not be an option.
Is the Pulse 2 legal to own?
TASER energy weapons are currently legal for civilian use in 49 of 50 U.S. states. In May of 2022, Rhode Island’s ban of stunguns (R.I. Gen. Laws Section 11-47-42(a)(1)) was struck down in federal court, opening a door for civilian TASER energy weapon ownership nationwide.
Are cartridges reusable?
Each cartridge can only be fired once but can deliver multiple electrical cycles. That means that while the darts can only be projected at a target once, as long as the darts remain in the target after the initial 30-second electrical cycle, subsequent electrical cycles can be engaged.
Does Pulse 2 use the same cartridges as the previous model?
All accessories, including cartridges and batteries, compatible with the previous Pulse model will continue to work with the latest version.
What is the battery life?
Battery life on the Pulse depends on a host of factors, including temperature the device is stored in, etc. But on average, the batteries last about 1 year before needing to be replaced.
What is the voltage?
Although the maximum output voltage of the Pulse 2 is up to 50,000 volts, that is not what enters the body. In reality, less than 2,000 volts of electricity typically flow into a subject when a TASER energy weapon makes a connection. And this electricity flows at a very low current, in a precise waveform, which is why TASER energy weapons are tested and proven to have a reliable cardiac safety profile.
What is the accuracy of the Pulse 2 when the target is moving?
The accuracy of the device is independent of the target; however, a moving target may be more difficult to hit for some users. We recommend practicing with the device using the included practice target and cartridges before encountering a live usage scenario.
What is the penetration depth of the barbs on Pulse 2 darts?
Approximately ½”
Does a Pulse 2 work in water? What weather conditions will the Pulse 2 not work?
Pulse 2 is not rated for water usage. Users should read the product documents regarding acceptable use and exercise caution and discretion when using the device.
Is the TASER Bolt 2 rechargeable?
No. However, the batteries are user replaceable and provide enough energy for many uses.
How do I set up/change my Bolt 2 battery?

Can I buy cartridges longer than 15 feet?
No. Civilians may only purchase 15-foot cartridges. Only Law Enforcement agencies can buy cartridges of other lengths.
After the cartridge is fired, are you completely defenseless?
All TASER energy weapons are equipped with back-up stun gun features to be used after the cartridge has been deployed.
Do the probes need to hit a specific area to be effective?
As long as all conditions for NMI are met (including probe connection and probe spread), a current can flow through muscles and the attacker can lose control of said muscles.
Will a TASER Bolt 2 be effective on an attacker in thick clothing?
The darts can penetrate clothing and the electricity can also jump up to two inches of combined distances between the probes and the skin.
Will a TASER Bolt 2 incapacitation effects work on larger, stronger people?
A TASER energy weapon may work just as well on a 300-pound man as they will on a 150-pound woman.
Will a TASER Bolt 2 work on an attacker who is high or intoxicated?
As probe connection and probe spread are the primary conditions for NMI, a probe deployment’s ability to induce NMI does not depend on the target’s mental state.
